Sarees can be defined as strips of cloth which are unstitched in nature and are only a woman’s apparel. It generally ranges from four to nine yards and is generally draped all over the body in different styles, which showcase the tradition of the place. This apparel is quite native to the Indian subcontinents and the term saree has been derived from a Sanskrit word, sati, which means a strip or piece of cloth. In the ancient Buddhist Jain literature the term Sattika is mentioned which defines the attire of a woman in ancient India. The name of the book is Jatakas and this term is more or less similar to the modern version of Saree.
